Paver sealing should begin with the material, its condition and the finish you want to live with. A pale terrace may need a different treatment from a concrete driveway. Ask for a named product and a sample area before agreeing to a change across the whole surface.

What should a sealer be chosen to do?
Identify the reason for considering it: stain resistance, a change in appearance, or joint stabilization where the product is designed for that purpose. Ask which outcome the proposed product supports and what maintenance remains afterward.
Belgard distinguishes film-forming and non-film-forming sealers in its homeowner guidance and describes the different appearances available. For a warm, natural-looking garden, judge the treated sample beside the house, coping and adjoining materials. Look at it in sun and shade. Confirm whether you are approving a change in color, sheen or both.
Does the paving material or an older coating matter?
Identify whether the surface is concrete paving, travertine, another natural stone or porcelain. Do not assume a product suitable for one can be used on another. Obtain the exact technical data sheet and the paving manufacturer’s guidance.
Ask whether a previous coating is present and, if so, how it will be identified. Techniseal’s NS data sheet specifies compatible substrates and existing treatments and requires testing before application. Have the quote separate cleaning, any coating removal, joint work, repairs and sealing. Record existing stains, haze, cracks or uneven areas. Do not let a proposed finish obscure a question about the condition of the paving beneath it.
Will the finish change wet traction?
This matters around pools, on steps and along the route into the house. Some sealers can increase slipperiness when wet: Techniseal expressly states that limitation for its NS product. A finish described as natural-looking does not, by itself, establish wet traction. Techniseal NS application cautions
Ask the installer to discuss the selected product’s limitations and any compatible treatment proposed for the intended use. Evaluate a test area under relevant conditions. Do not accept “slip-proof” as a substitute for product information and careful material selection.
When can Florida pavers be sealed?
Use the selected product’s requirements for surface dryness, temperature, rain-free time and reopening to use. A general rule about waiting a fixed number of days cannot account for every paving material, joint product or sealer.

For scheduling, ask who checks the forecast and surface condition, how irrigation is managed during the work and what happens if conditions change. Make arrangements for pets, furniture and access before the crew begins. Confirm separately when walking, furniture and vehicles can return.
What should you keep after the work?
Retain the product name, data sheet, application date, photographs of the accepted sample and care instructions. Ask how wear will be assessed before another application and who should evaluate whitening, peeling or a change in traction.
