Your project, priced as a whole. Palmera quotes each installation individually, using a measured area, a selected turf system and a written account of the work your property requires. This guide explains how to obtain an estimate you can compare with confidence.

A price for the turf roll alone does not describe an installed garden. Removal, access, supporting materials, drainage and the meeting points with existing paving belong in the same conversation. The useful question is: what will it cost to complete the agreed area, including the work beneath and around it?

What should an artificial turf estimate include?

Ask each contractor to price the same drawing and identify the same inclusions. If one proposal includes drainage changes and another leaves them out, the totals answer different questions.

Estimate item What to ask for in writing
Measured area A drawing identifying the installation boundary and finished square footage.
Removal and disposal Existing lawn, roots, unwanted material and disposal arrangements.
Access and protection The delivery route, equipment access and protection of retained features.
Ground preparation Proposed excavation, supporting material and the basis for its specification.
Water management Existing concerns, proposed levels, drainage work and unresolved investigations.
Turf and infill Manufacturer, product, backing, infill and relevant product documentation.
Seams and edges Seam locations, anchoring and transitions to paving, beds and structures.
Associated work Irrigation changes, planting reinstatement, documents and applicable fees.
Handover Cleanup, care instructions and written product and workmanship terms.

Ask whether taxes, delivery and disposal are included in the total. Where a price is an allowance, request the underlying assumption and how a change will be approved.

Does a larger lawn cost proportionally more?

It needs more installed surface, but a square-foot figure should not be carried from one property to another without reviewing scope. A broad rectangle, a narrow side garden and several small areas divided by paving can require different layouts and access arrangements.

Distinguish the finished lawn area from the quantity of material ordered. Ask to see how roll widths, seams and cutting waste affect the proposal. If the estimate uses square-foot pricing, confirm which area the rate applies to and which costs sit outside it.

For a 500-, 1,000- or 2,000-square-foot enquiry, bring an approximate area to the first conversation. Obtain a measured proposal before using any of those sizes as a firm budget. A larger number on a drawing does not resolve a narrow gate, a low spot or a difficult edge.

Why should drainage be priced before a finish upgrade?

Florida’s synthetic-turf standards cover permeability, stormwater management and protection of adjoining property for qualifying single-family lots of one acre or less. Product selection and site preparation therefore belong together. Florida DEP’s synthetic-turf guidance

If your yard already holds water, ask what investigation is included before installation. A permeable backing specification alone does not tell you where water will travel beneath the finished surface. Read our Florida turf drainage guide and request a separate explanation of any proposed drainage work.

Likewise, review summer surface heat before paying for a product described as cooler. Ask for evidence about the complete system and the conditions under which it was tested.

What could change the agreed price?

Before signing, discuss conditions that have not yet been verified: buried debris, unexpected removal, existing drainage condition, access restrictions or requested design changes. The proposal should explain who authorizes extra work, how it is priced and when you receive the revised total.

For a deed-restricted home, gather the current community guidelines early. Ask who prepares, submits and revises any requested documents, and which charges are included. Our Florida HOA and artificial-turf guide separates community review from government requirements. Neither a verbal assurance nor a pending application belongs in the estimate as an approval already obtained.

How should you compare the final proposals?

Place the drawings, named products, inclusions and exclusions beside each other before comparing totals. Then request clarification of any blank item. Ask about deposit and payment milestones, the validity period of the quote, care requirements, repair arrangements and the exact written warranty terms.

Avoid assuming that lower routine lawn maintenance pays for an installation within a particular number of years. Our ten-year turf and sod comparison helps you account for current maintenance spending, the proposed cleaning routine, and future repair or replacement.
